Ajin and Justin had the fire of innovation in them when they were at school. Through Manorama's Yuva Mastermind, Ajin brought laurels to Changanassery S B Higher Secondary School while Justin brought honours to Vivekananda School. Even after joining Amal Jyothi College of Engineering in Kanjirapally, they focussed on developing simple and powerful solutions for those around them. Those innovations helped them to excel at the Techtop National Innovation Challenge.
Latino
The Latino is a gadget that allows better collection of latex from rubber trees. Rather than carrying a bucket, the innovation allows one to carry a suspended carrier on one's back. Ajin Omanakuttan, Mintu Elizabeth Shaji, A.S. Parameswaran and Alan Anil spent a lot of time designing the gadget so that it would fit the contours of the person carrying it. It also doubles the latex collection quantity. Their gadget won the first prize at the Techtop awards.
Colourmate
Those concerned about their hair have much to risk from colours used to dye hair. The Colourmate innovation by Justin Jose, Ashish Tom Abraham and Jacob George offers a solution. A roller similar to the ball point pen is used to apply cream or liquid to the hair which would not stain the skin. It received a special prize at the competition.
An innovation club has been launched at Amal Jyothi college where teachers are ever ready to help students with their innovations. Those who won awards at Techtop were members of the innovation club.
