Akshara Haasan who is making her acting debut as feisty, ambitious assistant director has also impressed many. @pravenbg, a movie buff, was impressed by 'the way she emotes, her expressions and dialogue delivery' (sic) and called it a great launch.
#Shamitabh ― Akshara Haasan makes a sparkling debut, the way she emotes, her expressions and dialogue delivery were near perfection.G8 launch

However, some fans felt that Dhanush left them wanting more.
#Shamitabh ― Entire story revolves around just few characters, very innovative concept from the director. Dhanush left me wanting for more!

Few other attractions of the movie are Ilaiyaraaja's songs and background score along with PC Sreeram's amazing camera work.
Really liking the music & vocals of "Stereophonic sannata" by Shruti Hassan and "Pidli si baatein" by @SrBachchan from #Shamitabh!

According to few critics, the movie, in its initial phase moves at a slow pace.
The film starts slow. #Shamitabh has an interesting premise. But it still needs pace.

This shamitabh is going to be a flop movie I assume ..apart from amitabh ..there's nobody exciting to watch

#Shamitabh caters largely to an urban audience. A crisper version would've only enhanced the overall impact.
