As the movie tagline says Kalyanam is a 'cliche love story' with Shravan Mukesh in the lead role. It marks the debut of another star-kid in Mollywood. Shravan is the son of versatile Malayalam actor Mukesh. The movie directed by Salt Mango Tree fame Rajesh Nair tells the story of Sarath (Shravan) who is deeply in love with Shari (Varsha). He is looking for the perfect opportunity to tell her his love. The movie revolves around a wedding, where who-marries-who is answered.
Shravan has done a decent job and lived up to the expectation of the industry. The film also marks Kollywood actress Varsha Bollama's entry to Mollywood. She too has done an admirable performance. The film, jointly scripted by Govind Vinjan, Sumesh Madhu and Rajesh, also has Mukesh in a pivotal role.
The film also has an ensemble cast that includes actors like Sreenivasan, Indrans, Hareesh Perumana, Jacob Gregory, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Sudheer Karamana, Saiju Kurup and Saju Navodaya. All of them impress the audience with their impeccable comic timing and engaging performances. Apparently, one shouldn't be seeking more reasons to watch out for some amazing situational comedies, feel-good moments and lovable romance.
The soundtrack of the film is by Prakash Alex, a debutant. Najim Arshad and Siddharth Menon have rendered two beautiful songs for Kalyanam. The Drithangapulakitha song rendered by actors Dulquer Salmaan and Jacob Gregory is another major highlight of the movie. The melodious songs lent extra mileage to this romantic comedy.
