Unni Mukundan, riding the wave of Marco's success, has decided to step down as the treasurer of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). Elected to the position in July 2024, the actor's resignation comes as a surprise, revealing the toll of balancing cinematic commitments with organizational duties.
In an Instagram post, Unni opened up about the challenges that led to his decision. He shared, “After much thought and reflection, I’ve decided to step down as AMMA’s treasurer. While this role has been an exciting and rewarding chapter, the increasing demands of my work—especially with Marco and other productions—have started to take a toll on my mental health.”
Acknowledging the overwhelming nature of juggling multiple responsibilities, Unni emphasized the importance of prioritizing well-being. “Balancing these duties alongside my professional commitments has become too much to handle. It’s clear to me now that stepping back is the best decision for both my health and my family’s,” he explained.
The actor assured fans and colleagues of his continued dedication to ensuring a smooth transition. “I will continue to serve until a new member is appointed. It’s been an honour, and I’m deeply grateful for the trust placed in me during my tenure. I wish my successor all the best in carrying forward the responsibilities of this role.”
