Kottayam: Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, George Kurian, visited the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Kottayam campus on April 8. During his visit, the Minister engaged in an interactive session with students on the topic ‘One Nation, One Election’, addressing their questions and clarifying related doubts.

In his address, the Minister highlighted the rapid growth and achievements of IIIT Kottayam, including the institute’s rising recognition at the international level. He specifically mentioned socially committed projects supported by global organisations such as the Mozilla Foundation and Volkswagen Foundation, the cyber commando training programme, capacity-building initiatives for Kerala Police, and the institute’s progress in placements and research.

BoG Chairperson Dr Vijayalakshmi Deshmane, Registrar Dr M Radhakrishnan, Dr Anil Kumar Vadavathoor (Director, IIMC Kottayam), and Dr M Abdul Salam (former Vice Chancellor, University of Calicut) were among those who participated in the event.

As part of the visit, prizes were distributed to winners of the Inter-IIIT sports meet, and a foundation-stone-laying ceremony was held for a new hostel block on the campus.
