Since February, Munnar has had a purple hue with elegant jacaranda flowers lining many stretches of Kerala's much-loved hill station. After the flower drawing hoards of tourists to the region with its stunning aerial views, Munnar is ready to lift the souls of summer travellers with another set of flowers - Easter lilies. The trumpet-shaped flowers, which are often seen in white, pink, orange, purple and cream, have taken over the cemetery of the picturesque 114-year-old CSI Church in Munnar.

The Gothic-style shrine, located on the Kochi-Madurai-Dhanushkodi Road in Mookakadai, is renowned among believers and tourists for its setting amidst rolling tea gardens. Meanwhile, the easter lily flowers, which have a pride of place even in the bible, were planted in Munnar by the Britishers. The ones seen at the CSI church belong to the 'pink belladonna' variety of the flowers, which bloom widely during the Lent season. They are also considered a symbol of spirituality and peace.
