The Indian Super League club Bengaluru FC on Tuesday condemned an incident during the ISL final in which firecrackers were thrown at the club's travelling supporters at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. The club said that it has filed a formal complaint with the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and the Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL).

The incident happened during the final against Mohun Bagan Super Giants on Saturday, April 12. The club said that one of its supporters sustained an injury to the eye, which required immediate treatment. It also added that the club owner, Parth Jindal, along with several other supporters, suffered burns and bruises.

Condemning the incident, the club called the attack 'reckless and cowardly' and urged the league authorities to ensure the safety norms for fans in the stadium.

"Such actions not only endanger lives but go against the very spirit of our beautiful game. Stadiums should be safe space- now and always. Such acts have no place in football, or anywhere," the club said.

Bengaluru FC lost the ISL final to Mohun Bagan with a  of 2-1. Despite taking the lead in the 49th minute through an own goal, Bengaluru conceded two goals, with Jason Cummings and Jamie Maclaren finding the net to seal the title for the Kolkata side.
