Kochi: With the aim of elevating Kerala to international standards through world-class, industry-driven education, connecting students with employment opportunities, fostering entrepreneurship, empowering women, and building a socially responsible society, Kochi Jain University has officially launched the Future Kerala Mission.
The initiative has been conceptualized drawing inspiration from the Summit of the Future 2025, held under the leadership of Jain University. Former diplomat and former Indian Ambassador to the Netherlands, Venu Rajamony, has taken charge as the Chairman of the mission.
Rajamony, who has served as the Press Secretary to the President of India, Consul General in Dubai, and Officer on Special Duty to the Kerala Government in Delhi with a rank equivalent to Chief Secretary, will also serve as the Principal Advisor to Jain University.
He has previously served in various prestigious positions, including Professor of Diplomatic Practice at O.P. Jindal University, KPS Menon Chair for Diplomatic Studies at the School of International Relations and Politics, M.G. University, and Member of the IQAC Council at Christ Deemed to be University. He continues to serve as the chief advisor to several prominent educational institutions.
Dr. Tom Joseph, Director of New Initiatives at Jain University and Chief Facilitator of the Future Kerala Mission, stated that Venu Rajamony’s national and international experience, commitment to the growth and development of Kerala, and his strong connections and working relationships with top educational institutions in India and abroad will greatly benefit the university’s future academic initiatives as well as the Future Kerala Mission.
He added that Rajamony’s expertise and understanding of state, national, and international relations—gained through his diplomatic service in Hong Kong, Beijing, Geneva, Dubai, Washington D.C., and across Kerala and India—are particularly noteworthy.
Dr. Tom Joseph expressed great happiness at Rajamony taking charge as Chairman of the Future Kerala Mission and said that his distinguished contributions and expertise in the field of diplomacy would be invaluable to Kerala’s sustainable development.
Venu Rajamony stated that the efforts undertaken by Jain University for the sustainable growth of Kerala are truly commendable, and he is happy to have the opportunity to work alongside the university in realizing the vision and achieving the goals of the thoughtfully conceived Future Kerala Mission.
He emphasized that Kerala holds immense potential, and if well-planned and precisely implemented initiatives are carried out across various sectors with a focus on the future generation, both the state and its youth can achieve global standards of excellence.
Earlier, as part of the Future Kerala Mission, the Jain Group of Institutions had announced the establishment of a new private university in Kozhikode under the name 'Jain Global University' with an initial investment of Rs 350 crore.
Additionally, a notable initiative under the mission was the introduction of a mandatory pledge for all incoming students to abstain from drug use, aimed at freeing the new generation from substance abuse. Through such initiatives, the university is implementing numerous projects to elevate Kerala to global standards.
Jain Deemed-to-be University is owned by the Jain Group of Institutions, which has been active in the education sector for over 30 years and operates more than 80 institutions, including two universities. Jain University is one of the leading educational institutions in the country, holding an NAAC A++ accreditation and Category I Graded Autonomy status from the UGC.
