Students of Nalanda Public School, Thammanam performing at the Ernakulam Government General Hospital on Wednesday as part of the Kochi Biennale Foundation's Arts and Medicine programme. Kochi: Musician-students from a reputed school in the city lined up along with their tutor and rendered popular songs from old and new Malayalam cinema, pepping up the forenoon hours of patients at Government General Hospital here on Wednesday.
A group of 13 children from classes 4 to 12 of Nalanda Public School in suburban Thammanam livened up the spirits of the patients and others at the gathering, presenting a bouquet of melodies.
Their music teacher Shyam Arvind led the hour-long show organised as part of the 92nd edition of the ‘Arts and Medicine’ programme being organised every Wednesday by the Kochi Biennale Foundation in association with Lakeshore Hospital and Research Centre Limited and Mehboob Memorial Orchestra.
The music group, comprising three keyboard players, two guitarists, a rhythm pad player and seven singers, received a thunderous applause from the audience for their scintillating performance.
The team members were Nandu Prasad, Muhammed Sahel, Vishnu (all on keyboard), Daneesh Mathew, Muhammed Altaf (both on guitar) and Akash P Baiju on the rhythm pad, besides vocalists Dhanya Dinesh, Athira Sunil, S Sreelakshmi, Sneha Peter, Sarath Kishnan, Gopika K R and Amritha S Menon. Teachers Preeja and Bhagyalakshmi also accompanied them.
The songs included some of the all-time favourites like Alliyambal Kadavil (from the movie ‘Rosy’), Etho varmukilin (‘Pookkalam Varavaay’), Azhake nin (‘Amaram’), Mazhaneerthullikal (‘Beautiful’), Kadali kan kandali (‘Nellu’), Sreeragamo (‘Pavithram’) and Moham kondu njan (‘Shesham Kazhchayil’).
