A still from the playKochi: Perch, a Chennai based performance collective, will present its popular English drama “Under the Mangosteen Tree” based on Vaikom Muhammad Basheer's short stories at JTPac on October 23rd at 7 pm. The drama, based on seven short stories of Basheer would present on stage: love, comedy and adventure.
Poovan pazham, Neela Velicham, Mathilukal, Shabdangal, Viswavikhayatamaya Mookku, Oru Manushyan are the short stories selected for the dram. Paul Mathew presents the role of Vaikom Muhammad Basheer. Iswar Srikumar, Film star Aparna Gopinath, Rency Philip, Anand Sami, Ravindra Vijay, Ashiqa Salvan and Karuna Amarnath are the other actors.
Perch has been staging dramas based on Basheer's stories since 2004. Directed by Rajiv Krishnan, “Under the Mangosteen Tree” has been presented on several stages in India and it has been well appreciated.
