KSRTC’s luxury coach which was exclusively used by the Kerala Chief Minister and the ministers to commute during the Navakerala Sadas is all set to begin service in the busy Bengaluru route. Minister of Transport KB Ganesh Kumar who is determined to change the policies of his predecessor decided to change the ‘fate’ of the iconic Navakerala bus too. Instead of renting the bus out for budget tourism, the bus is likely to be operated as a public transport service in the Kozhikode – Bengaluru route. The procedures for procuring the state carriage permit instead of the luxury coach’s contract carriage status have already begun. The bus was taken to Bengaluru for maintenance works after the Navakerala Sadas got wrapped up.
Facilities inside the bus
The 25-seater bus has a lift, wash basin and bathroom facilities. It has 25 pushback seats and an extra seat for the conductor. It also has a TV and music system. It also has additional room for luggage after the rearrangement of seats. Around Rs 2 lakh was spent to transform the bus changing its seats and other facilities.
