Ghani posted a video on his Facebook page late on Wednesday, confirming that he was in the United Arab Emirates.
Ghani fled Afghanistan just as the Taliban approached Kabul. Earlier, unconfirmed reports said that the 72-year-old had fled to Oman, Tajikistan, or Uzbekistan.
Ghani, whose current whereabouts are unknown, said he left Afghanistan on Sunday as the Taliban entered Kabul virtually unopposed. He said he wanted to avoid bloodshed.
First elected president in 2014, Ghani made effort to end decades of war his top priority, despite continuing attacks on his government and security forces by the Taliban, and began peace talks with the insurgents in the Qatari capital of Doha in 2020.
Afghan Ambassador to India Farid Mamundzay said Siddiqui was killed in Kandahar on Thursday night while being on an assignment.
