Sun protection without chemicals: Follow these natural sunscreen options

Mail This Article
Even as the summer is intensifying its harshness, sunscreens are increasingly becoming unavoidable for spending time outdoors. But are sunscreens that protect against such intense sunlight completely suitable for the skin? Many sunscreens contain chemicals and artificial ingredients that, while protecting against ultraviolet rays, may be harmful to the skin over time. There are natural ways to protect your skin from the sun without relying heavily on these. Let's explore some of them.
Coconut oil
Coconut oil, commonly used in our homes, is to some extent helpful in protecting the skin from the harmful effects of sunlight. Besides protecting from sunlight, coconut oil also helps retain the skin's moisture.
Aloe vera
Aloe vera, an indispensable part of beauty care, also has the ability to protect the skin from sunlight. It acts as a light protective shield against ultraviolet rays and helps soothe the skin from the impact of sunlight.
Sesame oil
Sesame oil is also considered a natural sunscreen. Rich in antioxidants and vitamins, sesame oil provides up to 30% protection from ultraviolet rays. It also helps prevent skin damage caused by prolonged sun exposure.
Raspberry seed oil
Oil made from red raspberry seeds naturally contains high levels of SPF properties. This provides protection from ultraviolet rays. Raspberry seed oil can be applied directly to the face or mixed with a few drops of coconut oil or almond oil.
Shea butter
Shea butter helps protect from the sun and moisturizes and softens the skin. Shea butter has an SPF of 4-6. Shea butter can be used as an alternative to sunscreen on days when the sun's intensity is relatively low.
Ways to protect skin after sun exposure:
Apply ice cubes wrapped in a soft cloth gently to the face. This helps reduce discomfort caused by sunburns.
Grind cucumber in a mixer and apply the paste or its extracted juice to the face. This helps cool the skin and retain moisture. Wash off after 15 minutes.
Apply a little honey directly to the sun-exposed areas of the skin. This helps soothe the skin easily and lock in moisture. Wash off with lukewarm water after 20 minutes.
Most importantly, drink plenty of water. This is essential to protect the skin from within and maintain health, especially during hot weather.
