On January 3, a Special CBI court sentenced 10 CPM workers to double life imprisonment for conspiracy and murder of the two Youth Congress workers.
The news of their parole application broke out on the day the Congress and the families of Kripesh and Sarathlal were observing their sixth death anniversary at Kalliyot in Periya on Monday.
In November-December 2021, the party conducted an extensive campaign to raise funds for the legal proceedings in the case.
The four CPM leaders, who were handed five-year jail term, approached the High Court of Kerala seeking suspension of the sentence.
The Kerala High Court division bench had stayed the execution of the sentence in the case involving the murder of Youth Congress workers Kripesh and Sarathlal in Periya, Kallyot.
The leaders are lodged in the Central Prison and Correctional Home in Kannur, nearly 300 km from Kochi.
The CPM state secretary said that Vijayan and his son Jijesh died in Kozhikode Medical College on December 28, the day the Periya murder verdict was delivered.
He was speaking to the media after paying floral tributes at the memorial of the slain Youth Congress workers.
After the reception at the jail premises, the CPM leaders also visited the homes of the convicts in Kasaragod.
In total, 14 CPM workers were convicted in the case.
