Forty-two hospitals in Kerala's Kannar are now connected to the e-health facility, and arrangements have been made to implement digital payment systems. With the help of the e-health app, patients can enjoy a hassle-free hospital experience, from booking the OP ticket to availing lab and pharmacy services. Doctor services are also available via the app. Meanwhile, facilities to book online appointments and digital payments were arranged in eight more taluk hospitals yesterday.

A Unique Health Identification number would be generated for the online health services. Digital payments could be made via UPI apps and cards at these hospitals. The deputy DMO said fully-fledged digital services are available in 32 hospitals in the district. Meanwhile, the remaining hospitals will adopt digital services as soon as the technical glitches in the lab services are solved. The EK Nayanar Memorial Government Women and Child Hospital in Mangattuparamba has completely adopted digital facilities.

Pariyaram leads the way
The Kannur Government Medical College or Pariyaram Medical College implemented a digital payment system three years ago. Patients can also pay using cards. POS machines were also installed here. However, there is no facility to book appointments or OP tickets online.

Technical difficulties
The authorities at the taluk hospital in Thaliparamba said there isn’t any official order urging the hospitals to launch digital payment systems by April 7. Digital payment facilities aren’t ready here yet. Preparations for implementing digital payment systems are underway at the Thalassery General Hospital and also at the Payyannur Government Taluk Hospital. Due to some technical problems, the digital payment system is not yet ready at the Irikkoor taluk hospital; meanwhile, the authorities said that it will be ready within a week.

Mayyil community health centre, Karivelloor community health centre and Peringom taluk hospital haven’t arranged digital payment systems here. The authorities at the district hospital and Pazhayangadi taluk hospital confirmed that digital payment facilities are ready at these hospitals.
