Kochi: The survivor of the 2017 actress assault case has written to President Droupadi Murmu, seeking action against those involved in tampering with the memory card containing visuals of the attack. She highlighted that, despite repeated complaints to the Supreme Court and Kerala High Court, no action has been taken, even after scientific examinations confirmed unlawful tampering with the device on three occasions.
In her letter, the survivor expressed deep concern over the potential consequences if the visuals were exposed, warning that it could irreparably damage her future. She criticised the judiciary for failing to act on the issue and stated that this inaction had compelled her to seek the President's intervention.
The survivor, who has worked in Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada films, was abducted and allegedly molested in her car for two hours by some persons who had forced their way into the vehicle on the night of February 17, 2017, and later escaped in a busy area. The accused also filmed the entire act to blackmail the actor.
There are 10 accused in the assault case, including actor Dileep, and police have arrested seven. Dileep was subsequently detained and jailed for nearly six months for his alleged links with the gang.
