Cherthala: Local CPI(M) leader Omanakuttan, who had faced disciplinary action from the party and a case on the charges of collecting money at a flood relief camp in Alappuzha district last year and was subsequently proved innocent, is a happy man today.
His daughter has got admission in MBBS in a merit seat at a Government medical college.
Omanakuttan's daughter Sukrithi, got admission in Government Medical College Paripally the other day.
After completing her plus two, Sukrithi was preparing for the entrance exams. It may be recalled that on August 16, 2018, a section of media ran a story that Omanakuttan, a local committee member of CPI(M), was illegally collecting money from the inmates of the flood relief camp at Ambedkar Colony.
Subsequently, he had to face disciplinary action from the party and a police case was registered against him. Following this, many who took shelter in the camp submitted a plea to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan vouching for Omanakuttan's innocence and rubbishing charges against him which led the party to revoke the disciplinary action against him.
The government also withdrew the case registered against him and the Alappuzha collector came to his house personally and expressed regret.
The achievement of Omanakuttan's daughter was made viral on social media by CPI(M) supporters. "I am proud of my daughter's achievement," said a beaming Omanakuttan.
