The 'Kaffirs' were soldiers from South Africa (Mozambique), who served in the Portuguese Army. This is a chicken curry handed down from the Kaffirs, but tweaked to make it in Goan style.

Ingredients
2 kg boneless chicken
A bunch of coriander leaves
10 green chillies
A bunch of mint leaves
5 gms green cardamom
5 gms cinnamon stick
5 gms cloves
10 gms ginger
10 gms garlic
1 tbsp turmeric powder

Grind the coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chillies, green cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and garlic to form a fine paste. Add the lemon juice to the paste and mix well
Marinate the chicken with this paste and keep it aside for at least 2 hours
Heat oil in a pan and sauté the sliced onions for a couple of minutes. Add the chicken, and continue to sauté for a few minutes.
Next, add one and half cups of water. Keep covered and cook till the gravy is thick and partly dry
