Reenu Mathews made her way into the hearts of the Malayali audience with her incredible performance in the Mammootty-starrer Emmanuel. The pretty actress, who is also a cabin crew with the Emirates airlines, is a self confessed foodie. As part of her job, Reenu has travelled to different parts of the world and had tried out various cuisines and unique dishes. However, the Kottayam lass vows that nothing can beat the beef cutlets that are sold at the local bakeries at her hometown. She calls the crispy little beef cutlets as Kottayam's own ‘patent’ food.

Reenu recalls an incident when she walked into a famed Greek restaurant at Dubai which served authentic Greek cuisine. She was particularly impressed by a dish called the moussaka. “Moussaka is in fact the national dish of Greece. It is a delicious dish made with mutton, egg plants and cheese. I happened to meet the chief chef, Kabir, who surprisingly hailed from Kottayam. However, even moussaka wouldn’t come near our good old beef cutlets,” notes Reenu.

The actress studied at the St. Antony’s Public School in Kanjirapally. She credits her incredible college days, as a student of BA English literature, at the Baselious College for turning her into the confident young woman that she today is. “I feel that the natives of Kottayam have an impressive sense of colours and attires. Those sensibilities have greatly helped me while doing movies as well. Kottayam is a town which still retains some of the older houses as it really appreciates the charm of traditional architecture,” says Reenu.
