Kadalundi panchayat launches eco-friendly tourism project

Kadalundi: The Kadalundi panchayat launched its first eco-friendly tourism project that would give the travelers a glimpse into the mangrove forest and famed bird sanctuary along the banks of Kadalundi River in Kozhikode.
The Mangrove Eco-Tourism helmed by the panchayat has packages with boat services to the lush green islets on Kadalundi River and to the bird sanctuary near the Kadalundi Community Reserve and mangrove forest along the estuary where the river meets the sea. There are around nine mangrove varieties in the forest.
A two-hour long boat trip for ten people will cost Rs1,500.
The eco-tourism unit has also included sumptuous variety of food prepared with local catch from the river in the tourism package. Local fish varieties like pearl spot, crab, shrimp, clam and mussel dishes are served with steamed tapioca, pathiri (flat bread made with rice flour) and wheat chapathi.
