Award winning actress Nimisha Sajayan finds time amidst her busy schedule to go on trips to explore new places and cultures. She often shares of pictures from her trips, both inside and outside Kerala and also international trips. Nimisha says that she has travelled a lot as part of shooting and she roams around the place, enjoying the interesting sights during the breaks. In her opinion, travelling can calm your mind and is an excellent stress buster. Nimisha, who grew up in Mumbai, really likes visiting historical places and forts. In an earlier interview to Manorama Online, the actress had said that she has been to all the major historical places and destinations in Mumbai.

Now, the actress has shared pictures from her recent trip to the historical city of Mahabalipuram.

The actress is seen enjoying the marvel of architecture at the destination in a wide-bordered traditional cotton saree. She has shared snaps of the intricate carvings and rock structures of the ancient historical city.

Mahabalipuram is a spectacular place where you could visit the ancient rock temple complexes and the beautiful beaches. The mesmerizing beauty of the rock statues in the temples are sure to capture your heart. Thousands of visitors come to the coastal city to experience the scintillating charm of the ancient architecture. Kanchipuram or old Mahabalipuram is one of the oldest ports in Tamil Nadu. Interestingly, Mahabalipuram is a coastal town that is more than 12 meters above the sea level.

Mahabalipuram which was known as Mamallapuram, pays tribute to the great Pallava king Mamallan. The majestic Pallava architecture, in all its glory, could be enjoyed here. It is assumed that this ancient city was built between seventh and ninth centuries. Mahabalipuram has been included in UNESCO’s list of heritage sites. Besides, the ancient temples and other historically significant places are protected sites by the Archaeological Survey of India. Mahabalipuram is around sixty kilometres away from Chennai city.

How to reach

Mahabalipuram is approximately fifty-six kilometers away from the Chennai Central railway station. Meanwhile, the city is around fifty-two kilometers from the Chennai Airport. It is easier to reach here by road. Bus services are available from Chennai to Mahabalipuram. You could reach Mahabalipuram in under two hours. Besides, you could also reach here via Adayar, Palavakkam, Kovalam and Nemmeli.
