Veena George has faced sharp criticism for allegedly misleading ASHA workers regarding her plans to meet the Union Health Minister.
According to the protesters, around 26,000 ASHA workers in Kerala are awaiting the payment of at least two months’ honorarium of ₹7,000 each and three months’ incentives of around ₹5,000 each.
Health Minister Veena George said efforts are underway to make all hospitals in Kerala antibiotic-smart.
According to the Kerala ASHA Health Workers’ Association, efforts are underway to bring global attention to the protest.
The government is making efforts to bring affected children back to life, the minister said.
Anwar Sadath MLA and Ernakulam Medical College Superintendent Dr Ganesh Mohan were with the minister.
The health minister said the performance and service aptitude of all the CWC caretakers will be evaluated.
Since Thiruvananthapuram Medical College is the only medical college in Kerala with a paediatric nephrology wing, the two new DM seats is expected to give the wing a comprehensive upgrade.
A total of 32 people are currently under observation at Manjeri Government Medical College Hospital and Perinthalmanna MES Medical College Hospital.
