Hello
An MVD Inspector at the Ponnani RTO in Malappuram conducted an astonishing 147 driving tests in just five hours.
Ganesh Kumar, who refused to back down from the new driving test reforms that were to be implemented, was forced to call the associations for a discussion after the protests got stronger.
The primary hurdle faced by the Motor Vehicle Department in resuming operations is the absence of applicants who have been assigned slots for driving tests.
Driving schools have been oberving indefinite strike from May 2.
The driving school owners decided to continue their indefinite strike till Minister KB Ganesh Kumar withdrew the official circular.
The driving schools have also decided not to participate in driving tests, learners tests, and driving classes until the orders are officially withdrawn.
As protests got intense, the MVD officials were communicated that all those who were given the slots may be allowed to take the tests.
Angular parking, parallel parking, zig-zag driving, and driving vehicles on steep roads without moving backwards are mandatory tests to pass to obtain a driving licence from May 1.
From now, those who obtain a driving licence in an automatic vehicle to clear the test won’t face any restriction on driving a car with a manual transmission.
