Actor Dileep arrived at Sannidhanam accompanied by the Administrative officer (AO) and Assistant Executive officer (AEO) and one of the Devaswom guards escorted him to the administrative office, according to the statement of facts filed in the High Court by Bijoy P, Police special officer, Sabarimala. The report was filed after the HC criticised the Travancore Devaswom board and the police for giving preferential treatment to certain people including Dileep in a way that caused inconvenience to other pilgrims
The report said that the police have not assisted the actor from Pamba or any other places at Sannidhanam. “It is understood that one of the Devaswom guards who was not in his official uniform escorted the actor to the administrative office from where he was taken to Sopanam by the Devaswom officials,” the report said.
The officer told the court that the police had no advance information regarding the visit of actor Dileep. From the CCTV visuals verified, it is evident that film star Dileep arrived along with the Administrative Officer and the Asst. Executive Officer about 10 minutes before the closing time of Harivarasanam. At that time the District Judge Alappuzha K K Balakrishnan and his son were present near Sopanam exit. At about the same time the AO & AEO came to Sopanam. Dileep, his friend Sarath and driver Appunni, who came with him, waited at the exit. When Harivarasanam started, Devaswom guards Biju Bose and Shine T Raj, who were on duty there, allowed Dileep and his companions into the first row, which is manned exclusively by the Devaswom Guards from the direction opposite to the flow of pilgrims and gave them an opportunity to witness the entire Harivarasanam, the report noted.
The officer has submitted that steps will be taken to ensure that such incidents are not repeated and the rights of genuine devotees are not denied. According to the report, Dileep visited the 'Sopanam' by entering the first row in front of Sopanam in a direction opposite to the flow of devotees just before the Harivarasanam and blocking the first row during the entire Harivarasanam. This affected the smooth darshan and free flow of devotees, according to the report.
