The railway continues its apathy towards Malayalis demanding to allow special trains ahead of the upcoming Vishu season. Most of them are planning to travel to Kerala by April 11, and the railways haven’t announced any special trains yet, reports Manorama Online. Meanwhile, the passengers are worried whether the Southern Railway will announce a special train at the last moment, just like in previous years.

Tickets for all the trains to southern Kerala and Malabar have been on the waiting list since last month. Meanwhile, the KSRTC has also turned its back on passengers who were hoping to rely on buses to return home. KSRTC has announced only a single special bus to Ernakulam on April 11.

No hope
The railway authorities had vowed to decide whether to allow special trains after April 6 as they were busy with the inauguration of the new Pamban Bridge. But there aren’t any hints about the special trains two days after the inauguration. In the previous years, special trains were allowed only in the last moment and the tickets in this train were sold out by the time most people knew about the service. Various associations had appealed to the railway authorities regarding special trains months ago.

Seats filling up in buses
KSRTC’s regular service to Ernakulam only has five more tickets for tomorrow. Meanwhile, there is only one vacant seat on April 11 and two on the next day. The bus that starts from Kilambakkam at 8.30 pm would reach Ernakulam by 8.30 in the morning. The special bus service to Ernakulam is fully booked. This bus will start at 6.30 pm and reach Ernakulam at 7.25 am. KSRTC had arranged more services to southern Kerala in the previous years. For booking, visit website
