The family who built a stunning house in Thodupuzha explains how their dream home evolved. Their desire was a house with modern amenities on a 10-cent plot. The exterior is in a contemporary style. The elevation appears as a combination of several boxes. The exterior walls are painted off-white and grey. The surroundings are landscaped beautifully. The plot, elevated from the road level, was excavated to create two levels. The driveway and car porch are on the lower level, while the house and other spaces are on the upper level.

The sit-out features built-in seating. The ground floor comprises a formal living room, family living room, dining area, kitchen, work area, and two bedrooms. The upper floor has two bedrooms, a bathroom, a home theatre, and an open terrace. The interiors avoid an excess of dark colours. There is no unnecessary panelling or decorative work.

Custom-made furniture adorns the formal living room. One wall is highlighted with a cement texture. This leads to an open hall. The family living room, dining area, and kitchen are all part of this hall. This gives a spacious feel upon entry.

The dining and kitchen areas follow an open-plan theme. A six-seater custom-made dining table is in place. A door leads from the dining area to a patio. All bedrooms are designed simply and beautifully. A sliding glass door from the master bedroom leads to the patio space. Metallic furniture is installed here.

The kitchen cabinets are made of multi-wood. The counter is granite. The backsplash features a cement texture, adding a unique touch. As desired, the house receives ample air and light. There’s no need for lights during the day. Those who have visited the house are happy, and so are we.
