Vijayan, an autorickshaw driver, did not take his vehicle to the stand at Chirakadu, Palakkad for his usual trips, during two days in the last week of October. He had, instead, been in Cochin to watch his daughter Vibitha participate in the Miss Kerala contest. When Vibitha Vijayan was crowned the 1st runner-up of the Miss Kerala 2018, it was her beloved father’s face that she had searched for among the crowd. She couldn’t hold back her tears when she spotted her father who wept in joy by holding his face in his hands.

Seeing an emotional Vibitha, the anchor had invited her parents onto the dais to share the proud moment with their daughter. One of the most emotional moments during the event occurred when the proud parents embraced Vibitha.

Vibitha admits that she never imagined she would have such an incredible experience in her life. The youngster has gone through her own share of difficulties as a child. The family, which consists of three young children, had to survive on the meagre income earned by Vijayan. However, he was determined to make his children achieve greater heights. Vibitha and her siblings had studied at the Seventh Day ICSE School at Puthusserry, Palakkad, and she reveals that she had skipped school for a year as they didn’t have enough money to pay the fees.

“When I saw the profiles of other contestants who took part in Miss Kerala, I realised that they were all incredibly talented. I asked my father whether I should quit and return. He not only didn’t allow me to quit, but gave me the courage to take part in the contest with confidence,” says Vibitha.

Vibitha has been working as an official at the Erode branch of the Syndicate Bank for the past 2 years. Her brother is working in the Indian Air Force and her sister is a student. The beauty queen vows that it was her father’s determination and efforts to make his children fulfill their dreams that inspired her to achieve success in life.
