Idi chakka or tender jack fruit is loaded with healthy fibres and other essential nutrients.

This recipe is a bit different from the usual tender jackfruit thoran (stir fry) as the jackfruit bulbs are nicely crushed and not chopped. Here is how you could easily prepare the crushed idi chakka stir fry.

Ingredients
1 medium sized tender jackfruit
1 chopped onion
1 tsp chilli powder
2 dried chillies
¼ tsp pepper powder
½ tsp garam masala
1 tsp coriander powder
2 chopped green chillies
¼ tsp mustard seeds
2 tsp coconut oil
Curry leaves
½ tsp turmeric powder
Salt as required

Preparation
Pressure cook the tender jackfruit bulbs with salt and some water until 2 whistles
After it has cooled down, crush it well without breaking down the jackfruit bulbs
Heat a teaspoon of coconut oil in a pan and splutter the mustard seeds
Sauté the onions
Add the dried chillies and sauté
Now add turmeric powder, chilli powder and coriander powder
Sauté until the raw smell is gone
Into it add the crushed tender jackfruit and sauté for at least 2 minutes
Add pepper powder
Give everything a good mix
Add the fresh curry leaves
Pour a teaspoon of coconut oil and add the chopped green chillies
Mix well and take it off the flame.
