Crispy fried alavangu made with wheat flour was once a 'super star' among the dal vada , uzhunu vada (urad dal), and pazhampori (banana fritter) which beckoned food lovers from the glass cupboards in local tea shops. This evening snack makes an amazing combination with black tea. Here is a simple recipe of home-made alavangu.

Ingredients
170 gms wheat flour
1 small onion (finely chopped)
2 green chillies
Curry leaves as required
Salt as required
Oil to fry

Preparation
In a bowl, mix all the ingredients
Add warm water and prepare a batter
The batter shouldn't be too hard or loose
Make small balls from this batter
Heat oil in a pan
Add the alavangu balls and deep fry until golden brown.
