Munroe Island or Mundrothuruthu as it is locally known is located at the confluence of Ashtamudi Lake and the Kallada River in Kollam district. A popular tourist destination situated about 27 kms from Kollam, the island is named after Colonel Munroe, a British Resident of erstwhile Travancore state. Colonel Munroe, it is said oversaw the land reclamation efforts in the delta. Our photographer Rahul R Pattom brings us these amazing pictures
