Actress Kaniha, a favourite of Malayalam moviegoers, has shared snaps of her journey to Paris, which she made before the spread of coronavirus, along with her husband. In one of the pictures posted on Instagram, the actress is standing before the iconic Eiffel Tower.

"Miss being a tourist. The wine, the cheese, the crepes, the love in the air," she wrote in the post. Kaniha, who was born in Tamil Nadu, become popular after giving several stellar performances in many Malayalam films. Kaniha with her work-out videos and confidence-boosting posts is quite active on social media.

In earlier posts too, the actress had shared her experience of touring Paris. "It was my long-cherished desire to visit Paris. When I went to a restaurant wearing a casual T-shirt and shorts, I was denied entry. But when I told them that I had money, I was allowed to dine in," recollects Kaniha.

The actress ordered the best food on the menu and while she was waiting for her food to arrive, many Keralites came up to her for selfies. Seeing this, the restaurant owner realized that Kaniha was a celebrity and offered apologies.

Thousands of tourists flock Paris to see the world-famous Eiffel Tower every year. It is estimated that 25 crore people have visited the tower, which was built in 1889, until now. The tower, which was closed for more than a month due to COVID-19-triggered restrictions, was reopened for visitors in the last week of June.

There are restaurants on the first two floors of the tower and if you want to go up the structure, requisite tickets have to be purchased to enter special elevators. Tickets are also available to visit just the two floors of the tower. Ice skating facility is available on the first floor during winter and the top floor houses the champagne bar and from there one can get a bird's eye view of the entire Paris city.

Though Eiffel tower is a public building, there are curbs on photographing the illuminated tower at night. Though a photo of an illuminated Eiffel Tower is subject to copyright laws, there is no curb to photograph the tower during daytime.

Gustave Eiffel is the architect of Eiffel Tower and as per the French law, the work of a designer is protected during his or her lifetime plus an additional 70 years. As Eiffel died in 1923, the structure entered the public domain in 1993.
