Police arrested Chenthamara late on Tuesday. He told the court that he committed the crime alone because the victims ruined his life. He asked the court to carry out the punishment as quickly as possible. He said he doesn't want to be released from prison again. He cannot face his engineer daughter and son-in-law.

In the remand report, police said Chenthamara was happy that the plan to commit the murders was successful and that he carried out the crime with meticulous planning. The accused had purchased the billhook days before committing the murders.

The remand report said that the murder was committed out of his enmity with Sudhakaran and Lakshmi and that Chenthamara repeatedly threatened the neighbours. It said the accused attempted to mislead the police by placing a vial of poison in the house.
