Cong leaders, family bid farewell to Manmohan Singh at AICC headquarters

New Delhi: The mortal remains of Manmohan Singh were brought to the AICC headquarters on Saturday, where top Congress leaders, including party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi, paid their final respects.
The remains were shifted from his residence to the Congress office in a flower-adorned vehicle, under tight security. The procession arrived at the AICC headquarters shortly before 9 am, reported PTI.
Singh’s wife, Gursharan Kaur, their three daughters, and other family members were present. Kaur also laid a wreath to pay her respects. Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Congress MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, and several former Union ministers were among those who offered tributes to the late Prime Minister.
Congress general secretaries K C Venugopal and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, his deputy D K Shivakumar, and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu were also present. His final rites will be performed at Nigambodh Ghat with full state honours.
Singh, who served as the Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014 and is regarded as the architect of the country's economic reforms, passed away on Thursday at the age of 92.
The Union Home Ministry announced that a seven-day national mourning will be observed across the country in his memory, with the national flag flying at half-mast during this period.
