Aspirants who wish to sit for the entrance test for admissions to national film schools like the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata, should submit online applications before 11:30 pm on March 4.
The applicants can download the admit cards from March 10 onwards.
The Joint Entrance Test (JET) which is the first stage of selection would be conducted on March 18 and 19 at 28 centres across the country including Thiruvananthapuram, Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi.
The applicants should choose at least two centres in the order of preference, in their application. There would be objective and descriptive-type questions in the three-hour-long test. The results would be published on the website by the first week of June. The JET score is valid only until December 31, 2023.
After qualification
Those who pass the written test would have to attend the orientation programme and get through the interview rounds to successfully secure admission. Meanwhile, there would be an audition test too for admission to the screen acting course.
Courses at Pune, Kolkata
In the information bulletin the courses have been divided into groups A, B and C. Post-graduate Diploma courses like Direction and Screenplay Writing, Cinematography, Editing, Sound Recording and Sound Design (Group B) are offered at both FTII, Pune, and SRFTI, Kolkata.
• Courses that are offered only at FTII, Pune:
» Group A courses like Art Direction and Production Design, Screen Acting, Screen Writing (PG Diploma), Animation and Visual Effects Design (under-graduate certificate).
» Group C courses such as Direction, Electronic Cinematography, Video Editing, Sound Recording and Television Engineering (post-graduate certificate).
• Courses that are offered only at SRFTI, Kolkata:
» Group A courses such as Animation Cinema, Producing for Film and Television, Electronic and Digital Media Management.
» Group C courses like Direction and Producing for Electronic and Digital Media, Editing for Electronic and Digital Media, Cinematography for Electronic and Digital Media, Sound for Electronic and Digital Media, Writing for Electronic and Digital Media (PG Diploma).

Eligibility
Those who have bachelor’s degree in any subject can apply to these courses. However, in order to apply for the three-year PG Diploma course in Art Direction and Production Design, the aspirants should have graduation or equivalent qualification in streams like Applied Arts, Architecture, Painting, Sculpture and Interior Designing.
Meanwhile, those who have passed Plus-Two or two-year diploma after Class 10 can apply for the three-year certificate course in Animation and Visual Effects Design.
The earlier guideline that the applicants should have mandatorily studied Physics in Plus-Two for applying for Sound Recording course has been withdrawn this year.
Final year students too can apply for the courses. However, they should be able to submit their certificate and mark lists within 31 May. Students from Scheduled Caste/Tribe communities, Other Backward Classes and Economically Weaker Sections can avail reservation of up to 15%, 7.5%, 27% and 10%, respectively.
Single application
A single application is required for both the institutes. But, the aspirants cannot apply for more than one course in a group. They can apply for up to three courses in three different groups.
The institutes at Pune and Kolkata will conduct admissions independently, on their own. The JET score would be considered only in the first round of selection. Refer the respective websites for details about fees and scholarships.
Exam schedule
The entrance test for courses in Group A has been scheduled to be conducted from 2 to 5 pm on March 18. Meanwhile, the test for Group B courses would be held from 9 am to 12 pm on March 18. The test for Group C courses will be conducted from 2 to 5 pm on March 19.
