Music maestro AR Rahman's team dismissed "fake" reports claiming he was admitted to the Appollo Hospital on Sunday morning following chest pain. According to them, he was hospitalised as he suffered dehydration and neck pain after a long travel. As per reports and the social media update of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Rahman is stable, and he should be discharged in an hour from the hospital. Several tests, including ECG and echocardiogram, were conducted on him. Doctors are also monitoring him closely, as per reports. An official health bulletin on this would be released soon. Earlier reports had also claimed he would be given an angiogram.
Poor posture, sleeping position, stress, fatigue and even screen time can lead to travellers experiencing stiff neck and shoulders and pain after a long travel. Long car rides and flights can also cause dehydration, cramps and headaches due to low fluid intake, dry air, poor circulation, water loss and even increased consumption of coffee, tea or similar beverages during the travel. A few months ago at the International Film Festival for India in Goa, AR Rahman had opened up about his struggle with mental health a few years ago. He spoke about having suicidal thoughts and how his mom used to help him deal with it. He also admitted that he eventually found comfort in music.
Ergonomic care and hydration during travel
To avoid neck stiffness and hydration issues during travel, follow these easy tips:
1) Ensure you drink enough water to ease stiffness and muscle cramps.
2) Support your neck with a neck pillow to prevent awkward positions
3) Keep your shoulders relaxed, and ensure the back is straight
4) Whenever possible, take a break to rotate your neck, shrug your shoulders and stretch a bit.
5) If you can't avoid screen time, hold your phone to your neck to avoid 'tech neck,' a repetitive strain injury caused by hunched posture over time.
6) Avoid slouching; use warm compressors or cooling gel if they can give you the required relief.
