Damam: Hoping to gain traction in the maritime industry in the Gulf region, a brand new shipping service has been floated connecting the major ports in the Middle East. Milaha, the popular maritime operator in the region has started the ‘Upper Gulf Express’ connecting Dammam port with other ports in the Gulf region. Saudi Ports Authority informed that Milaha, the Qatar-based navigation company has flagged off the latest ship service.

This service would help the Saudi ports to improve their connectivity with other regional ports as well as international ones. It would aid the growth of the marine sector in the country and would be financially beneficial too. The Qatar Shipping Company has announced the service, connecting Dammam Port with Sohar Port in Oman, the Port of Jebel Ali in the UAE, Hamad Port in Qatar, Al Shuyoukh Port in Kuwait, and the Umm Qasr Port in Iraq. Milaha will operate regular services between these six ports using two freight ships that can hold up to 1,015 containers. The shipping services were launched by Milaha on January 24.
