Kerala is sweltering under the summer sun, yet a few places still boast of spring-like greenery, cool air, and plenty of spots to unwind. Pullu in Thrissur, known the best as the hometown of actress Manju Warrier, is such a green spot. All around Pullu, you see greenery dotted with upcoming tourism ventures that many from even distant places are game to explore. Of late, every other day, you see influencers heading to Pullu to make reels on the variety of sights offered by this beautiful locale. Shaji VR, who runs a tourism venture in Pullu, tells us what to experience in the village and how to go about it.

What to see?
Around 350 acres of green paddy fields are the most cherished attraction of Pullu. Shaji explains, "Around the Perumbuzha canal, where tourists go on boat rides, you get to see four different paadasekharams (fields) - Anthikkadu, Vilakkemadam, Pullu and Manakkody. Alongside enjoying their beauty, tourists can go on coracle or pedal boats, try a hand at kayaking and enjoy the sunset views." The area also has various lotus and sunflower farms as well. The reels on Pullu have also been popularising the magical sight of ducks moving through the fields in their synchronised fashion. "You can check out the ducks till the end of May," says Shaji, who adds that Pullu has a different 'look' in every season. "The place will be filled with water in June but will be occupied by grazing cows around October. It never looks the same always," he says.

Activity possibilities
You can hire a guide to listen to the stories of Pullu, enjoy the region's local homestays, go boating and check out ducks at Pullu. The coracle rides are open from 7 am to 6.30 pm. Shaji, who runs the establishment called 'Pullile Vanchikkaran' for the same, explains, "A trip, which often lasts for up to 20 minutes, is priced at Rs 200, and four people can be taken at a time. The best time to enjoy it, soaking in the sunset is around 5.30 pm. Many also hire the coracle boats for photoshoots." While you can find ducks throughout the day in the region, evening would be an ideal time to check them out, too.

People can often do photoshoots in the fields here without paying any charges. Those who wish to stay for a day or two can use nearby homestays.
