When Bollywood beauties are making a beeline for the sandy shores of Maldives and unabashedly posting pictures in seductive poses against the scenic beauty of the ocean, here’s an actor enjoying her holiday in her homeland amidst the finery of Rajasthan’s bygone royalty.
Kirti Kulhari is happy to post pictures of her time in Jhunjhunu, her native place where she is seen bonding once again with her dear and near. The rustic charm of Jhunjhunu, one of the biggest districts in Rajasthan cannot be missed.
One Instagram picture shows her offering prayers at the Harinath Babaji Ka Mandir… one place that me and my family never fails to visit whenever we come to our village, she says.
The pictures on social media hold up images of the earthy folks there. But if its royalty you seek, there’s a lot to see in Jodhpur, Jaipur and Udaipur. On the contrary, if it’s artistry or the finery of artisans and their lives you’d much rather have, it’s to Jhunjhunu you must head. This district is a microcosm of India in its middle ages. There’s a reminder of the life and times of India’s past glory at every turn of the streets here. History lurks in every corner.
Another picture titled Bajra roti lunch shows a happy Kirti making roti with her elderly aunt. “Made with so much love by my eldest masi and bhabhi… two people whose strength and patience I admire so much …”, says Kirti’s Instagram post.
Winter is the best season to be in Rajasthan, she adds. Jhunjhunu is famous for its stepwells or bawaris as the locals call them. Apart from being historic sites, the bawaris are much sought-after movie locations.
Jhunjhunu has its special place in mythology too. The place finds mention in the Mahabharath. It’s believed that the village was a part of the Virata kingdom ruled by the Matsys king Virata. It’s also said that the Pandavas spent the 13th year of their life in anonymity in the Virat kingdom where they hid their weapons.
Though settled in Mumbai, there’s a longing that tugs at her heart when she thinks of Rajasthan.
“My village visits are made of all this and more”, writes Kirti Kulhari as she happily posts pictures of her Rajasthan holiday.
