India's best women's chess player, Koneru Humpy, has shared a heartful greeting she received from her daughter after winning the World Rapid Championship.
"Priceless gift from my daughter Ahana," Humpy posted on social media. "Congratulations mom, Humpy," the seven-year-old wrote. "You are my pride, mom. You are my greatest motivation. You are inspiration to me. Your devotion, hardwork, love and faith inspires me to more (sic), to learn more and to reach my goals. I love you mom," Ahana wrote on two pieces of brown craft paper.
Humpy had clinched her second World Rapid title in New York two days before New Year. She had won her maiden title in 2019. Humpy's triumph made it a memorable December for India that witnessed D Gukesh winning the World Chess (classical) Championship for men in Singapore.
The 37-year-old Humpy had said how she valued the support from her family. "My husband and my parents support me a lot. My parents especially look after my daughter when I travel. It's not easy to become a World Champion when you are 37," Humpy said last week. She is India's top-rated female chess player.
