Municipal Vice Chairman E Krishnadas reiterated that he held no personal objections to the appointment. Earlier, the leadership crisis, which stemmed from dissatisfaction over the choice of district president, had led to unrest, with several councillors threatening mass resignations.

The RSS leadership played a crucial role in resolving the dispute, reported Manorama News. As part of efforts to ensure unity within the party, Prashanth Sivan visited N Sivarajan at his residence.
