Kottayam: A 17-year-old boy sustained severe head injuries after the door of a Ferris wheel the door of a Ferris wheel came off and fell over the boy's head in Changanassery on Friday night. The injured, Alan Biju, is a native of Vazhapalli. The incident occurred at around 8:30 pm during a church festival.

Alan, who suffered a serious head injury, was admitted to a private hospital in Thellakom, where he will remain under observation for a week.

Alan had visited the festival with his family to watch the rides organised as part of the celebrations. While standing beneath the Ferris wheel, the door collapsed, striking him on the head.

Following the incident, the police registered a case based on a complaint filed by a family member. Charges under Sections 289, 125, 125(a), and 125(b) of the BNS have been filed against the Ferris wheel operator, who is yet to be identified.

The authorities have launched an investigation into the matter, and the operation of the Ferris wheel has been suspended.
