Kollam: A man and his wife were arrested on Sunday in connection to the suicide of a 15-year-old boy in Kunnathur on charges of abetment to suicide, police said.

The accused, Suresh and Geethu, are relatives of the deceased, Adikrishnan, a Class 10 student.

On December 1, 2024, Adikrishnan was found hanging from the window frame of his house. His parents filed a police complaint, alleging that persistent physical and mental harassment by the accused drove their son to take the extreme step.

According to the complaint, the couple had beaten the boy over messages he sent to them via social media. The Sasthamkotta police initiated an investigation and subsequently sought the couple, who had gone into hiding after the court rejected their anticipatory bail plea, reported PTI.

The accused have been arrested on charges of abetment to suicide and will be presented before a court, officials said.
