Kochi: Malayalam actor Dileep on Monday filed a petition in the Kerala High Court requesting it to quash the FIR in the case against him alleging a conspiracy to harm the investigating officers in the 2017 actor assault case.

Lawyer B Raman Pillai filed the petition on behalf of the actor. The petition argued that the conspiracy case was fabricated and that the evidence in the case was not credible.

The investigating officer for the actor attack case Baiju Poulose and film director Balachandrakumar framed the case to malign him for personal vengeance, the petition said.

DGP B Sandhya and ADGP S Sreejith were aware of the conspiracy against him, Dileep said in the petition.

Dileep has also requested the court to hand over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in case the FIR was not quashed.

The latest plea comes after the HC granted anticipatory bail to the actor in the case.

The court granted Dileep, his brother Anoop and four others anticipatory bail in the conspiracy case on February 4.

The court had granted bail to the actor on grounds that he has so far cooperated in the probe.

According to Balachandrakumar, Dileep and his accomplices conspired to endanger Crime Branch officers Baiju Poulouse and KS Sudarshan, both Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySP), who were part of the team that arrested Dileep in the 2017 case. He also handed audio recordings of the conversations to the investigating officers.

Dismissing the prosecution's major arguments, the court had clarified that there was no prima facie evidence in the conspiracy case while granting the pre-arrest bail.
