Thiruvananthapuram: A youth was stabbed to death at Pettah in Thiruvananthapuram in the wee hours of Wednesday.

Pettah native Aneesh George, 19, was fatally stabbed at the house of his neighbour named Lalu.

A few reports say Aneesh had arrived there to meet Lalu's daughter.

The crime happened on the second floor of the house named Eden on the Chayakudi Lane at Pettah in Kerala's capital city. Lalu, wife and two children live here.

Lalu has surrendered before the police. He had called in the police informing that an intruder was attacked in his home. Though police arrived and took Aneesh to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital, he soon succumbed to the grievous wounds.

"I heard some noise around 3am and believing the youth to be a robber, I stabbed him," Lalu told the police.

The accused is being questioned by the cops now.

Aneesh's body has been moved to the mortuary.

"We are collecting more information about Aneesh. A probe is under way," said Circle Inspector of Pettah police station.
