Famed Iringal Sargalaya International handicrafts fest to begin on December 22

Kozhikode: The 11th edition of the much-acclaimed Sargalaya International Arts and Crafts Festival will commence on the 22nd of December and will continue till January 8th at Iringal, Vadakara, Kozhikode. Apart from the more than 400 participants from different states of the nation, artisans from 11 foreign countries will also take part in this popular crafts fest. Handicrafts from countries like Russia, Tunisia, Egypt, Uzbekistan will be displayed in the fest while Sri-Lanka to be the partner country.
Apart from the exhibition-cum-sale of the handicraft products by the artisans, a handicrafts exhibition by the Development Commissioner of Handicrafts under the Central Textile Ministry, a pavilion by the Union Ministry of Forest, a pavilion by Samagra Siksha Abhiyan to exhibit the student talents, green mobility expo for the promotion of electric vehicles, Uzbek food fest, Kerala food fest, and arts festival will be the attractions at the fest. Boating facility has also been arranged.
The much-acclaimed fest, conducted with the support of Union Ministry for Tourism, Ministry of Textile, NABARD and state tourism department, will be inaugurated by Kanathil Jameela MLA, said Sargalaya Chief Executive Officer PP Bhaskaran at a press meet here.
Recently, Sargalaya Arts and Crafts Village has been awarded as one of the top100 tourist destinations in the world by creating a unique story of sustainability. The announcement was made at the 'Green Destination' conference held at Tallin, Estonia, Europe. This made the crafts village eligible to compete for the award in the ITB Berlin, which is known as the world's best tourism fair.
