Cute, exotic design of this rustic-finish house in Kannur makes heads turn

This contemporary abode in the serene countryside of Thana in Kannur, Kerala, dons earthy tones that are in harmony with the surrounding nature. The brick jalis and the terracotta wall grant a rustic appeal to the exteriors. Meanwhile, the compound wall has been designed with rustic finish on one side while the other side retains a cement finish. The driveway, paved with Bangalore cobble stones, complements the overall rustic theme of the house.
Unlike modern homes where bright hues and piercing light arrangements are the highlights, earthy shades are mostly used inside this house to exude a meditative ambience. Meanwhile, arrangements have been made to adjust the intensity of the natural light that enters the house.

This splendid abode, designed in 3600 sqft, has a car porch, formal and family living areas, dining space, kitchen with a work area and two bedrooms on the ground floor. Meanwhile, there is an upper living area, two more bedrooms and a balcony upstairs. Some areas in the house retain exposed cement finish.

Meanwhile, teak wood has been lavishly used for furnishing, granting a regal ambience to the spaces. The grand elegance of teak wood could be seen in the windows, doors, furniture pieces and even the staircase. A TV unit has been added in the formal living area where a customised couch grabs attention. Besides, a quaint family living area with minimal furniture is arranged near the staircase.

The dining table set is pretty standard with a sheer glass top. From here, you could enter a small patio space which brings natural light and air into the house. The white metallic outdoor furniture of the patio strikes a beautiful contrast against the green surroundings. This tranquil spot has become the family’s favourite area in the house to enjoy a cosy evening.

The staircase done in combination of teak wood and glass makes it a unique designer piece inside the house. The first steps of the staircase could be used as a sitting area while lots of storage space has been arranged beneath it to make the interior space efficient.

The bedrooms are beautiful and are furnished minimally. The huge windows in the bedrooms let in golden sunshine as well as the enchanting views of the garden.
Meanwhile, the kitchen cabinets are done in plywood laminate finish. Artificial marble has been paved on the countertop in the kitchen. Besides, a breakfast counter too is arranged as part of the modern kitchen.
