Sunny is thrilled to narrate the makeover story of his two-storey house at Karthikapally in Alappuzha district, Kerala, which was around two decades old. The house that was 2400 sq ft in area was indeed one of the biggest houses in the area. However, the family decided to renovate the house when time began taking a toll on the structure. Besides, they wanted more facilities as well. The renovated house was designed by architect Jayesh Kumar who came up with incredible ideas that reflected the likes and interests of the family members as well.

The old sloped roof and the show walls in the elevation got replaced with ultra stylish box design. Brown stone-cladding on the white exterior walls highlight the amazing features of the house. Moreover, the perfectly placed spot lights enhance the impeccable charm of the exteriors during the night.

The spacious house has a car porch, sit-out, formal and family living areas, upper living area, dining space, five bedrooms, and kitchen with work area, balcony and an open terrace spread over 3400 sq ft. The old car porch got transformed into the chic formal living area in the new house. Meanwhile, the new car porch is built separately from the structure. It has been done by installing a canopy of aluminium frame.

The space constraints of the old house have been overcome by redesigning and rearranging the interior spaces to suit the requirements of the family. The old house had lots of closed spaces leaving the house congested. So, redundant interior walls have been removed to make the house vaster and spacious. Vitrified tiles are paved on the floor in the common areas. Meanwhile, granite has been used in the sit-out and on the stairway too.

A semi-partition too has been installed here to ensure enough privacy. Interestingly, this is also used as a curio shelf.

The family living area and the dining space are part of the incredibly spacious hall. One side of the wall in the dining area is decorated with attractive wall paper while a crockery unit lines the other side. The wash area, meanwhile, grabs the eye with impressive lighting and natural stone claddings.
