The family wanted to revamp their 12-year-old house to suit their changed lifestyle and financial situations. Though a single storied house, it had all the required facilities. So, the family decided to add an upper storey to make the house beautiful with lot more facilities as well.
The owner was very particular that the house should not look as if it had been renovated. The designers at Delarc Architects and Interiors had revamped this house without making any overwhelming changes but adding a few elegant features that reflects the incredible charm of the contemporary architecture.
The old house was 1398 sqft in area. After the renovation, the house is 2312 sq ft with an additional floor. The living and the dining area, kitchen, work area and the three bedrooms were retained. Earlier, there was only a stair room above. This was demolished and in its place came a floor with an upper living area, two bath-attached bedrooms and balcony as well.
The spaces were designed meticulously with excellent planning as it had to be done in a moderate budget. The customized couch, TV unit and the niches make the upper living area extremely scintillating. A wall here is highlighted using beautiful wall paper. The bedrooms are arranged giving prime importance to natural sunshine. Wardrobe units and dressing spaces make the bedrooms efficient as well.
False ceilings are not installed as the spaces are designed in minimal styles. Plywood and veneer make the wooden elements stand out. Now, there are five bedrooms in both the floors in the house.
Beautiful light fittings and the neutral shades of colours enhance the spectacular look of the interiors. Old mud tiles on the roof are replaced with brand new roofing tiles. The elevation got a facelift with the addition of the upper floor. The house, which was built in 2008, perfectly reflects the modern age with its renovated features. Interestingly, all these were done on a very moderate budget of Rs 25 lakhs.
