Thrissur: Mathilakam Police have arrested two people for threatening a man with a knife while he was buying alcohol at Poklayi, Mathilakam. The arrested are Shanavas (38) from Chalingad and Minshad (32) of Vazhiyambalam.

The incident occurred around 7 pm on Monday. According to the police, the duo put a knife on a man's throat and threatened him. The victim is named Kannan. They also caused a commotion at the vegetable shop in Chettupuzha.

When a team from Mathilakam police arrived, the two fled in a car. But they were apprehended at Kaipamangalam.

Personal enmity was the reason for the attack, police said. A case of attempted murder has been registered against Shanavas and Minshad.

The arrest was led by Mathilakam Police Station ISHO MK Shaji, Kaipamangalam Police Station ISHO Shajahan M, SI Ramya Karthikeyan, SI Suraj KS, SI Jason, SI Mohammed Rafi, SI(P) Sahad, and police officers Jamaludeen and Anandu.
