Fried fish taste incredible when the perfectly marinated fish fillets are nicely fried in fresh coconut oil. However, it is not good for the health to include fried food in your regular diet.
So, people often bake fish in plantain leaves to avoid oil. But did you know you can prepare fish fry even without oil?
All you need is some coconut milk and the other regular ingredients. Here's how you can prepare the oil-free fish fry!
Ingredients
Fish as required
1 ½ tsp Kashmiri chili powder
½ tsp ginger – garlic paste
¼ tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp pepper powder
½ coconut
Salt as required
Curry leaves as required
A pinch of asafoetida
Fenugreek powder as required
Lemon wedge
Preparation
Clean the fish pieces
Extract milk from the grated coconut
Into the coconut milk add Kashmiri chili powder, ginger – garlic paste, turmeric powder, pepper powder, asafoetida powder, fenugreek powder, salt, curry leaves and lemon juice
Mix well
Marinate the fish pieces with this marinade paste
Keep the marinated fish aside for at least an hour
Heat a pan
Add the marinated fish
As they are marinated in coconut milk, oil begins to separate when the marinade gets cooked
Flip the fish when one side is cooked
Delicious fish fry cooked in coconut milk marinade is ready.
